How many sessions will my student need?

A consultation is needed to answer this question.  It depends on the needs of the student.  What grade are they in?  What are their current statistics? Have they already started the process or even finish and just need me to edit?  However, generally, the typical JUNIOR who starts with me in October and November and finishes by the end of August uses about 25 sessions.  This would include test prep and writing sessions.

After the first meeting, how are the sessions scheduled?

Sessions can be set well in advance.  However, usually students are working around many other schedules.  Therefore, at the end of each session, the student tells me when they would like to meet.  They tell look at their upcoming schedules and decide how long they will need to complete the assigned task(s) before our next meeting - usually within 2 weeks.  Examples of tasks are a grammar lesson, a practice test, or an essay brainstorm.

Will there be a long wait to get scheduled?

Currently, I am able to schedule students within the same week of the request, and because we schedule our next session at the end of each one, there is not a problem accommodating their needs.  Students can meet with me wherever they are by using their phone and the Zoom app.

When should we start the college process?

FRESHMAN:  Some students start an academic plan as a freshman, and we meet monthly to check their progress on the timeline I give them.  We also start interest inventories for careers and prep for the PSAT.

SOPHMORES:  The start of 2nd semester of the sophomore year is an ideal time.  They will have the results of their PSAT to analyze for test prep, and I will look over their transcript and help them make curriculum choices.  We also start college exploration.

JUNIORS:  Those who haven't started the process yet, should begin by the end of October this year.  They will test prep for ACT/SAT, create a list of target schools, begin the Common App and check for scholarship qualifications.  Students who achieve their desired test scores by July will have their Common App (including essay) ready to submit by the end of August.

SENIORS:  The sooner, the better!  Many EA deadlines begin October 15.  March 1st is a common deadline for regular admission.  I will put you on a plan that will make these deadlines achievable!
